Rockinghorse relies on the support and generosity of volunteers who help us at various fundraising events in Brighton & Hove and across Sussex...
We’re always on the look-out for more volunteers to help us at events throughout the year, so if you are able to commit on a regular basis, or just fancy getting involved as a one-off, we’d love you to join our volunteer team!

Cake sale volunteers!
We’re looking for keen bakers to donate their baked goods for our cake sale at the Royal Alexandra Children’s Hospital on the second Friday of every month.

Rockinghorse has been chosen as the charity of the year at four local Sainsbury’s stores, and we are looking for volunteers to run information stalls, give out stickers and shake a bucket. All stores are keen to have a regular Rockinghorse presence, so times, dates and which store you are able to volunteer at, are very flexible.
Rockinghorse Dragon Boat Race
Date: Sunday 14 May
Location: Marina Square in Brighton Marina
Dress Code: Comfy and warm clothes (we will provide you with a Rockinghorse t-shirt)
Join us for our annual Dragon Boat Race being held at Brighton Marina on Sunday 14 May. We are looking for volunteers who are able to support with the bucket collection, help our mascot Rocky, and man our Rockinghorse information stand.
Rockinghorse Football Match
Date: Tuesday 23 May
Time: 1pm – 5pm (estimated timings, tbc)
Location: American Express Community Stadium, Brighton
Dress Code: Comfy, warm clothes, Rockinghorse t-shirt
Join us for the first ever Rockinghorse Football Match, being held at the home of the AMEX, home to the Seagulls. We are looking for volunteers who are able to marshal the event, help with the bucket collection, sell raffle tickets to supporters, and man a Rockinghorse information stand.
Children’s Food Festival
Date: Saturday 27 — Monday 29 May
Location: Hove Lawns, seafront
Dress Code: Comfy clothes (we will provide you with a Rockinghorse t-shirt)
We have partnered with the Brighton & Hove Food and Drink Festival to host the Children’s Food Festival. Volunteers will help children complete a range of activities including a tombola, jewellery making, badge making and arts and crafts. We are looking for volunteers to fill slots between 10am-4pm each day.
Mud Monsters Run
Date: Sunday 28 May 2017
Location: Stuart Way, East Grinstead, RH19 4RR
Dress Code: Keep an eye on the weather forecast but come prepared for either rain or sun on the day. Comfortable shoes with good grip that you don’t mind getting a bit muddy should be fine, as you will be in a marquee you will be largely protected from the elements.
You will be briefed by the Mud Monsters team when you arrive and will be given all the instructions and everything you need to run the bag drop tent. Keys and small items will be free for runners to leave but please feel free to encourage the runners to give you donations as well, larger items will have a compulsory donation of £3. Everything you take on the day will be for the charity — we are so grateful for your time and help.
You will also be provided with lunch which will be a sandwich, a snack and a bottle of drink. Please feel free to take any extra snacks with you.
Best of British Brighton
Date: Friday 2 June
Location: The Grand Hotel, Brighton seafront
Dress Code: Smart black clothes (no jeans or trainers)
Our annual Best of British charity sporting lunch is taking place at the Grand Hotel in Brighton and will welcome special guest speaker Eddie the Eagle! We are looking for volunteers who are able to help us sell raffle tickets, collect heads and tails money, and take auction payments.
