Members of the Eastbourne Round Table prepare for 160km bike rideMembers of the Eastbourne Round Table are aiming to raise £5,000 for Rockinghorse by cycling 160km along the South Downs Way.

The team is planning to complete the cycle in just three days, travelling across some of the most beautiful yet challenging parts of the South Downs, whilst taking in some spectacular views.

Money raised from this challenge will be donated to the Friston Ward at Eastbourne District General Hospital, where Rockinghorse is aiming to provide new rooms for children, teenagers and parents to help reduce stress, aid recovery, and create a calm and welcoming environment.

John Bowles, President of the Eastbourne Round Table, said: “Having had a daughter who had to spend some time in Friston Ward I have seen what fantastic work the staff there do. However, I felt that with the support of Rockinghorse and local people we could make this environment event better for young people and their families, and that is why we have chosen to support this particular project."

Analiese Doctrove, Fundraising Manager for Rockinghorse, said “We are so grateful to John and the members of the Eastbourne Round Table for undertaking this challenge. We know how hard it is but what great fun it can be, and it is so nice that they have picked a challenge close to their hearts. I would like to thank them all and wish them good luck.”
