Disney donates toys to Rockinghorse
December 2009
Disney Store Brighton has donated over 70 toys to children’s charity Rockinghorse as part of its nationwide Magical Giving Tree appeal.
The toys were delivered to The Royal
Alexandra Children’s Hospital in time for Christmas and included popular
characters from such Disney films as The
Lion King, Wall-E, Snow White, Peter Pan, Finding Nemo and Winnie the Pooh.
This is the first time that Disney Store has run a nationwide charity Christmas appeal. Over the past month, customers have been given the opportunity to ‘sponsor’ a soft toy, which has a retail value of around £15, for just £5. Each of these sponsored toys were then donated to Rockinghorse.
Rockinghorse has also delivered a gigantic Christmas tree, which has been placed in the atrium of the hospital. Gavin Fisher, Chief Executive of Rockinghorse, said: “This time of year is especially difficult for children in hospital and it’s important to raise their spirits wherever possible.
“We’re so very grateful to Disney and to all the guests who have donated a toy and helped ensure that children in hospital are not forgotten this Christmas.”
There are a number of ways you can get involved in making life better for sick children in your area. Whether it be by taking part in a challenge event, such as next year’s Brighton Marathon or a skydive; signing your business up as a Rockinghorse Champion and committing to raise £1,500 over the course of a year; or simply volunteering your time: there is a way for you to get involved.
