Christmas at The Alex
Thursday 16 December 2010
Brighton & Hove City
Council (BHCC) spread Christmas joy with the help of Father Christmas at The
Royal Alexandra Children’s Hospital today (Thursday 16 December) in support of the
council’s ‘Smile at Christmas’ and Rockinghorse’s ‘Christmas at The Alex’
appeals.
The council delivered two Christmas trees to the hospital, as well as over 100 gifts, which were kindly donated by council staff. Father Christmas, with help from one of his elves and sponsor Colin Brace, Director of Harbour View Developments (Sussex Limited), then gave out the presents to children on the wards.
The organisers of the appeal, Andy Tyrrell, Gemma Bradley and Aaron Robin from BHCC were delighted with the response they received from council staff. Andy said: “We have been completely overwhelmed by the generosity of staff – and would like to thank everyone who donated.”
Rockinghorse has run its
‘Christmas at The Alex’ appeal for the past three years to ensure that children
in hospital are not forgotten and can enjoy the festive season despite being
away from their families.
Ria Wilson, Rockinghorse Corporate Fundraiser, said: “We’re so grateful to staff at the council for their generous gifts, which will really make a difference to children in hospital this Christmas and that little bit more magical.”
