Young people in Sussex will
be raising money for children’s charity Rockinghorse by taking part in The
Brighton Marathon’s Grand Hotel Mini Mile Race this Sunday (18 April).
The race, which is for those aged between eight and seventeen years old, starts near the Peace Statue in Hove at 9am and finishes at the marathon finish line in Madeira Drive.
The mini marathon runners hope to raise a total of £1,000 to go towards making life better for sick children in Sussex.
With almost 200 people choosing to support the charity in their 26-mile feat, runners are well on their way to hitting their collaborative £80,000 sponsorship target for Rockinghorse. Albion chairman Tony Bloom has also opted to put on his running shoes for the cause and is hoping to raise a staggering £100,000.
Gavin Fisher, Rockinghorse Chief Executive, said: “We are completely stunned by the amount of support we have had from people wanting to get involved in the first ever Brighton Marathon.
“People’s generous donations will make a huge difference and we cannot thank our runners enough for taking on this enormous challenge. We even have three people who will be taking part dressed as rocking horses!”
