Pete with Challenge Events Fundraiser, Emma, as they prepare for their skydives next week (20 March)The winner of Big Brother seven (2006) jumped 12,000 feet from a plane yesterday (20 March) to raise vital funds for Rockinghorse children’s charity.

Hove resident Pete Bennett, zipped up his jumpsuit and overcame his fear of flying to take on a tandem skydive, just ahead of his 29th birthday tomorrow (22 March). He was joined by nine other Rockinghorse supporters also taking the plunge at Headcorn Parachute Club in Kent.

Pete hopes to beat the minimum sponsorship amount of £395 which will help sick and disabled children in Sussex and Surrey. He said: “I’ve always wanted to jump out of a plane but never thought it would happen, then I found I could do it for Rockinghorse and I jumped at the chance. It was right near my birthday too which is an added bonus.

“It was an incredible experience! The best bit was when the instructor was twisting the parachute; that was really great fun. There’s still time to donate money to the children’s charity Rockinghorse, so please sponsor me and help disabled kids!”

The reality TV star is currently being filmed for a documentary for ITV and the footage from Pete’s skydive will be added to the show.

Challenge Events Fundraiser for Rockinghorse, Emma Millar, will also take to the skies with Pete. She said: “We’re really excited that Pete chose to skydive for the charity - the footage is great! I’ve done a number of bungee jumps before, but this was my first skydive - it was such an adrenaline rush, although a little scary!”
