Beards come off for Rockinghorse
December 2010
Staff members of Hove-based
international recruitment company, MRL Group, shaved off their beards and
moustaches, creating some interesting designs in the process, all in aid of
Rockinghorse on Tuesday (30 November).
Eight male staff took it upon themselves to grow facial hair and collect sponsorship for the local children’s charity. So far, the team has raised close to £1,100 with money still coming in for the cause.
The company was the first to commit to becoming a ‘Rockinghorse Corporate Champion’ back in April when it pledged to raise enough money over the course of the financial year to provide a new incubator for the TMBU (Trevor Mann Baby Unit), which is one of the many local projects Rockinghorse supports.
The team has already taken part in a number of challenges and fundraising events over the last year, with staff from the UK office running the inaugural Brighton Marathon and cycling from London to Paris. Staff from the Paris and Munich offices, have completed the Paris Marathon and a 10km run in Munich, all of which have raised over £4,500.
The beard trimming extravaganza will add to the already high fundraising levels the company has generated for the charity, which makes life better for sick and disabled children across the region.
Kelly Robertson, Administration Manager for MRL Group, said: “It’s hugely impressive – the team has put up with itchy beards all month and look an unshaven mess, but they took it in their stride and have raised a terrific amount of money for Rockinghorse. But, as their wives keep saying, it’s definitely time for a trim! Luckily, John from Headmen has offered to come in and give the lads a free cut-throat shave as a reward for their efforts”.
