Appeal for rocking horse donations
Monday 2 August 2010
Rockinghorse has launched a campaign to
encourage people to donate rocking horses to sell in its shop in George Street,
Hove.
The charity, which gets regular enquiries about its namesake toy, opened a shop in December last year and often has children call in with their parents to ride on a rocking horse that was donated by a toy-maker for Harrod’s store in London.
Shop Manager, Sara Mahoney, explains: “People often ask to buy it and we tell them it’s not for sale, but they also get in touch with our head office, wondering if we make or sell them. So if anyone has an old rocking horse that their children have grown out of, we have plenty of people wanting to buy them.”
Gavin Fisher, Chief Executive of Rockinghorse said: “The shop is such an important source of income and really helps to make a difference to our work helping sick children, but people often don’t think of donating big items like this. In fact larger items like rocking horses or small items of furniture would be absolutely ideal.”
Anyone able to make a donation can either take them to the shop or call the charity's office on 01273 730286 to arrange collection.
